About Rooibos Tea Leaves:  Rooibos loose leaf tea leaves come from the Aspalathus Linearis (red bush) plant grown in South Africa.  Rooibos is rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties.  Rooibos contains minerals including calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and trace minerals, polyphenols and is high in Vitamin C.  It is naturally caffeine-free and low in tannins (so they it has no bitterness).  Green Rooibos loose leaf tea leaves are steamed and dried to prevent oxidation/fermentation.  Green Rooibos has a higher concentration of many of the nutrients found in red Rooibos tea.  It has a mild smooth and grassy flavor similar to traditional green tea.  Our Green Rooibos loose leaf tea leaves are Organic, Halal and Kosher.

Melktert Story:  Melktert, means milk tart.  It is a South African dessert created by the Dutch settlers in the “Cape”/South Africa.  It is an African favorite sweet custard filled pastry made with milk, flour and eggs.  Rooibos Melktert Tea is an expression of this African favorite desert by having a similar smooth, soothing, creamy and naughty flavor.  Various spices and herbal flowers are used to achieve its flavor.  Rooibos Melktert Tea is a premium and unique flavor that you won’t find it elsewhere and makes a great choice when entertaining guests.

Flavor Profile:  A light, nutty, woody taste with a hint of sweetness, combined with a flavorful, handcrafted and well-balanced blend of flowers and pinch of stevia leaf, providing for a smooth, creaming creme brûlée floral flavor which is reminiscent of a milk tart.  You'll want to drink cup after cup...  No artificial flavors or preservatives.

Brewing Instructions: 

Loose Leaf Tea: 2.5 g or 2 tsp (or 1 level scoop with GlobalTeas scooper) to French press for every 8 oz. of boiling water.  Let steep 5 minutes and enjoy! 

Pitcher Brewing: Pitcher brewing calibrations are detailed below.  Once steeping is complete, then remove tea bags or loose leaf tea leaves, pour over ice and enjoy!  We recommend making a pitcher and steep in a refrigerator, then pour over ice and enjoy!
